A Father Mourns

An Iranian Christian prisoner named Mehdi Akbari, also known as Yasser, has written a heartfelt letter expressing his grief over the death of his only son and his struggle to comprehend the motive behind his imprisonment. The letter was smuggled out of prison and shared by The Mirror newspaper, and has since been seen by Article 18, an organisation advocating for religious freedom.
Mehdi describes the profound sorrow he carries within him, comparing it to a stifled cry and an unspoken sadness. He openly acknowledges the challenges he faces in prison, but remains hopeful that his words will reach others and shed light on the injustices he and others like him endure. 
The letter provides a poignant glimpse into the emotional turmoil experienced by a Christian prisoner in Iran, highlighting the profound loss Mehdi has suffered and his desperate search for meaning amidst his confinement.
