Convert Flogged and Facing Exile
Saheb, a house-church leader from Rasht, northern Iran, has been flogged for a second time and is now sentenced to two years of exile. Zaman Fadaie, who is known as Saheb, had previously spent almost five years in prison and was once flogged for drinking Communion wine. The recent flogging took place on Sunday, 25 June, and Saheb now faces the prospect of travelling to Nehbandan, which is located 1000 miles away from his home. This news, reported by Article 18, highlights the ongoing persecution faced by Christians who choose to meet outside the state-sanctioned churches. Saheb's case exemplifies the harsh treatment and restrictions imposed on those who practise their faith outside of the official officially recognised channels. The situation calls attention to the need for increased awareness and support for individuals facing religious persecution in Iran.
Please pray:
For Saheb's strength and endurance during his two-year exile. Ask that God would provide him with the courage and faith to navigate this challenging season, and that he would experience God's presence and comfort in the midst of the his isolation.
For the protection and safety of Christians facing persecution. Ask God to shield them from harm provide them with wisdom and discernment to make wise decisions, and surround them with a community of believers who can support and encourage them in their faith.
