On Bail
An Iranian Christian convert, Javad Amini, detained by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on 17th November, has been released on bail. Javad was among 12 Christians summoned to court for “propagating a religion contrary to Islam” and “collaborating with foreign governments.” Two women detained alongside him were also released after 10 days.
During Javad’s detention, IRGC agents ransacked his home, confiscating Bibles and theology books. His wife, Farzaneh, endured interrogations and severe psychological abuse. Despite the trial proceeding without Javad, Article18 awaits updates on the case.
Iran claims to protect Christians’ rights but excludes converts, frequently arresting them under laws like Article 500, criticized as a direct attack on religious freedom. The UN recently urged Iran to uphold freedom of belief under international obligations, a plea ignored by such incidents.
Please pray for:
▪ Strength and peace for Javad, Farzaneh, and other persecuted Christians in Iran.
▪ Global efforts to protect religious freedom in oppressive regimes.
