Stroke After Hunger Strike
According to Article 18, Nasser Navard Gol-Tapeh, a Christian convert imprisoned in Tehran’s Evin Prison, suffered a stroke after a 35-day hunger strike protesting the persecution of Christians in Iran.
The 63-year-old, who previously spent nearly five years in prison for his faith, was found unconscious in solitary confinement on 17th March and taken to Bani-Hashem Hospital. He received treatment, including exercises to regain movement on his left side, before being returned to the general ward.
He remains detained with fellow Christian Joseph Shahbazian. Both were re-arrested on 6th February. Despite bail being set, they remain in prison without formal charges. Hopes for their release during the Iranian New Year were unmet.
Nasser ended his hunger strike, inspired by Jesus’ words in John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Concerns also remain for two Christian women arrested the same day, including one known only as “Aida.”
Please pray for:
▪ Nasser’s full recovery and healing from the stroke.
▪ The safe release of Nasser, Joseph, and other persecuted Christians in Iran.
