From Despair to Unimaginable Joy
Bita* (name changed for security reasons), an Iranian woman, endured a childhood of neglect and abuse, as reported by Open Doors. She lived with a drug-addicted father and an uncaring aunt, and was forced into an early and unhappy marriage, facing ongoing emotional and physical suffering.
By her mid-50s, despair led her to attempt suicide, but a friend intervened, saving her life. Soon after, Bita was invited to a secret house church, where she encountered Jesus for the first time. “When I heard His name, it was like something in my soul woke up,” she recalls.
Her faith transformed her life, bringing unimaginable joy and healing, noticed even by her children. Attending an Open Doors conference for women affected by trauma deepened her hope and faith.
Despite continuing to live under secrecy due to persecution, Bita is determined to support other women trapped in cycles of abuse and despair. Inspired by Isaiah 61:3, she now dreams of helping others experience the freedom and love she has found in Jesus.
Please pray:
▪ Pray for Bita’s safety and strength as she continues her secret faith journey.
▪ Pray that more women in Iran encounter Jesus and find healing, hope, and freedom.
“To grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3
